My 2011 GE DDT695SSJ doesn't run anymore because the main control board has failed, and the original part (WD21X24567) is discontinued. I've read that WD21X24901 might be a compatible replacement, but haven't found anything confirming it fits perfectly. Has anyone swapped these boards successfully in a late‑2000s GE dishwasher? Would love some real‑world experience here before I order one.

Physically, the boards are very similar but the firmware and component layout, nahh, they're dependent on the config, If you indeed go for it, you'd have to match the model prefix and check for firmware stickers I guess

Great point. The hardware might be compatible but if the firmware doesn't match up it could really throw a wrench in the works. Have you checked the model's configuration code or looked at the firmware label yet? That could give you a clear idea of whether it's worth pursuing or if you should cut your losses now

I don't have direct experience with those exact boards, but from what I've seen, GE sometimes uses updated control boards like the WD21X24901 as replacements for older models, also heard the newer board works fine as a drop in, but others ran into firmware or functionality quirks

You're on the right track, the WD21X24901 is indeed the official GE replacement for your WD21X24567 control board.
You can also try to verify this yourself by checking with a few different online appliance parts suppliers.
Enter your dishwasher model number on their site and then look for the Control Board or Main Board.
It should be a straightforward swap, but remember to unplug the dishwasher for safety and take a quick photo of the wiring before you disconnect the old board!
