Could a bad water pump really be behind a dark fridge interior?

I'm trying to make sense of this little problem with my refrigerator, the interior lights cut out, leaving the fridge completely dark, and the only issue I could trace so far is that the water dispenser or is it the pump assembly isn't behaving right, so could it actually be related, or what. From what I understand yeah, most fridges these days tie a surprising amount of functions into shared boards or circuits, so if the pump fails or starts drawing too much current, maybe it could trip something that also takes the lights offline? On the other hand, it feels strange to think a water circulation issue would leave the food compartment dark

Try unplugging your fridge for 5-10mins, then plug it back in. That might reset the lights and dispenser. Also, check the door switch if it's stuck or broken, it could be messing up the door sensor and turning off both.

Pull the connector for the pump or dispenser motor and see if the lights come back when you power it up. If they do, that pretty much confirms it but if not, you might be looking at a board issue rather than the pump itself
