Had a neighbor knock on my door last week because their dryer stopped mid cycle, I just took off the panel, tested the start capacitor with a multimeter and changed it for a $12 part, and suddenly I'm the appliance wizard of the block.
Took maybe 20 minutes and the ladies thought I performed surgery.
Capacitors fail constantly, they're cheap, and testing them makes you look like you actually know what you're doing even if it's literally the only thing you checked. It's the repair equivalent of turning it off and on again, except people are genuinely impressed,
Have you had any of such repair that made you loo like you were a magician?

Capacitors are the mvp of easy fixes, called in someone to take a look at my refrigerator once and it was just a capacitor problem

Yep, capacitors are the quick “look like a pro” fix. Had a friend’s washer act up once. Replaced the start cap, 10 minutes, and suddenly I’m a neighborhood legend too. Easy wins like that never fail.
