Error Code E1

Refrig started flashing an E1 error code yesterday and hasn't stopped since. I think E1 usually points to an issue with the temperature sensor, but I'm not totally sure. The fridge still runs, but cooling has been quite messy. Sometimes things are fine, then a few hours later,I notice drinks aren't as cold and the motor seems to be working overtime
I've already tried the unplugging it for a while, checked for frost build up around the coils, and made sure the vents inside aren't blocked. The code still comes back every time I power it on. What's confusing is the freezer side feels colder than the fridge compartment, which makes me think it might not just be the sensor but possibly an airflow problem or even a control board issue

E1 is usually tied to the temp sensor/thermistor, you're right on that. If the freezer's fine but the fridge side isn't, airflow or the damper sticking open/closed could be part of the mess too. Cheap thing to try first is swapping the fridge thermistor, they're usually under $30.

I’d check that evap fan first to make sure it’s actually moving air, if that’s good, test the thermistor resistance against the spec; if it’s way off, swap it

If replacing the sensor doesn't fix it, then yeah, it could be the control board, but start with the cheaper fix first and maybe if we knew what model you have if you need help tracking down the right part

Appreciate the help @Dominia_Yizkor and @Simon.day I actually did order the thermistor based on the suggestions here and also from a friend of mine, I swapped it not long after and the E1 code hasn't come back till today, it took us hours to replace though, it was my first time attempting a DIY, but it was fun

Wow, glad you were to DIY it. I'm slowly gathering motivation for the day I'm gonna have to DIY if any of my stuff goes bad
