help me fix the Whirlpool gas cooktop

My wife wants me to swap out a bunch of stuff on the Whirlpool Gold stove to fix the burners lighting up, like the surface igniter itself, the spark switch harness, and the spark module that connects all the white igniters.

But get this, one of the new igniters is still acting wonky sometimes.

Instead of sparking over to the black burner cap like it's supposed to, sometimes it'll just spark right there by itself.

And yeah, that green ground wire is definitely screwed in tight to the metal part of the stovetop.

I want to fix this cause before my wife asks for a new one

So, what the heck could be causing this weird sparking issue? Any ideas?

Dang, sounds like that igniter's got a mind of its own! lol. If its sparking in the wrong spot, it could be misaligned or there just might be a tiny crack in the ceramic. Check the positioning and clean the burner cap since sometimes the smallest thing can cause the issue, if not most of the time. Fix it soon before your wife decides it's time for a whole new stove.

A friend of mine had a similar problem a few years ago and if I remember correctly he mentioned that the ground was the issue. No idea how or why, but maybe it's worht checking it out?

You will hear a sounding yes to a new stove from my wife if she reads this! but seriously, I think they're right ff the igniter is sparking to itself, it might be a grounding issue.

haha. I'm trying a good clean and double checking the positioning of that burner cap now, hopefully it will sort it out. Good luck with the fix before the "new stove" conversation starts!
