Kenmore Elite fridge ice maker won't stop filling

I'm helping my sister with her Kenmore Elite. Ice maker keeps overfilling and leaking into the freezer. We replaced the valve and now it buzzes and vibrates like crazy when water's on. Tried flipping the connector and even tested it in a bowl. Same result. Could a bad filter cause this kind of behavior?

Yeah, I've seen something similar with other machines. Basically the restriction from the filter causes the valve to chatter which is why you're getting that noise. Try running it without a filter and see if it continues running as it was before.

We actually hadn't tried pulling the filter yet, so I gave it a go earlier today. The buzzing dropped off almost completely, and the fill cycle behaved way more predictably. I'll continue to monitor it over the next couple of days to confirm whether the improvement holds. If it does, my plan is to replace the filter and then observe whether the issue returns. Out of curiosity, have you ever seen a bad filter cause overfilling too, or just the valve noise? @Trainhopper1
