New ice maker twisting tray wrong way

Just put a new ice maker in my Samsung fridge (French door model). It's spinning way too hard, messing up the tray, and then quits. Trying to figure out if the motor is bad or if it's a control problem.

Just checking if you were able to verify the exact part number of the new ice maker against the original part number for your specific fridge model?
What you're describing could happen when the new ice maker is not the exact original part number or an identical revision to what the main board expects.
The board defaults to an overly aggressive cycle, causing the excess spinning.
But if you've confirmed that the new ice maker is compatible, try a hard reset first by unplugging the fridge for five minutes.
If the problem persists, I'd consider a main control board replacement, as the software controlling the motor would likely be the actual fault.
