GE GDF540HGD0BB lower door gasket discontinued

Hey y'all, I got an 8 year old GE GDF540HGD0BB dishwasher that just started leaking from the lower door area. Pretty sure it's the gasket (part WD08X10093), but it's discontinued and I can't find it anywhere. Tried all ecommerce... nada. Might as well try forums to check. Anyway, has anyone found a workaround? Wondering if aquarium-grade silicone might hold up if I reseal the old one, or if there's a sub part from another model that could fit. Appreciate tips.

Aquarium-grade silicone might work as a temporary fix if the old gasket is still mostly intact and you're just sealing up a small tear or gap, but it's unlikely to hold up long-term if the gasket is brittle or significantly degraded.
The constant heat and detergents are pretty harsh on silicone not specifically designed for that environment.
Finding a compatible sub-part is often a shot in the dark without comparing them side-by-side.
I suggest you carefully measure your old gasket's dimensions and profile, and then try searching for a universal dishwasher door gasket on appliance parts sites, filtering by length.
You can also try looking for gaskets for other GE models that were manufactured around the same time.
Sometimes a gasket from a very similar model or even a different brand's dishwasher with a similar door design could theoretically fit.
It's a gamble but you might get lucky!

Aquarium silicone might work as a temporary fix to seal any cracks or worn spots in the gasket, but it's probably not a long term solution since the gasket also needs to stay flexible and properly shaped, people swap in gaskets from similar models if the size matches, but it's a bit of trial and error

If you're thinking aquarium silicone will save a blown door gasket, you're patching a dam with chewing gum, this ain't a fish tank. Either Franken-fit a sub part or start dishwasher shopping

What about trimming a universal dishwasher door gasket to fit or using aquarium grade silicone as a temporary seal, its not perfect long term, but it can get you by

The silicone won't hold up too well and I have my neighbor to vouch for that. Have you looked at similar models that might share the same gasket?

Instead of searching for a part number, try searching by the dishwasher model. Gaskets from similar GE models might just do the trick. You could also check out appliance salvage yards. To fix it for now, clean the old gasket and use some aquarium silicone. But if you want it to last, go for marine-grade sealant. Calling GE parts directly could also be a great help.
